{"id":777,"date":"2013-07-02T13:27:13","date_gmt":"2013-07-02T13:27:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/?p=777"},"modified":"2013-07-02T13:49:51","modified_gmt":"2013-07-02T13:49:51","slug":"what-if-i-fail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/what-if-i-fail\/","title":{"rendered":"What if I fail?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A couple weeks ago somebody asked me why I was broadcasting to everybody that I was trying to qualify for Boston this year.\u00a0 What if it doesn&#8217;t work out?\u00a0 <strong>What if I fail?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I was not at all offended by this question, it is a legitimate one.\u00a0 Sharing goals\u00a0 (that you are not even sure you are going to accomplish) with the world is risky.\u00a0 You run the risk of not being successful and having everyone know you did not make it.\u00a0 You run the risk of people judging you. You run the risk of not only letting yourself down, but others down.\u00a0 So why did I decide to make it known to all my friends and loved ones that I was going after this?\u00a0 Why did I not just keep it to myself and surprise everybody if I made it?\u00a0 <strong>Because as soon as you make a personal goal public, it becomes real.<\/strong>\u00a0 You become more accountable to work towards it and not mess around.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Picture-126.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-770 aligncenter\" alt=\"Picture 126\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Picture-126.jpg\" width=\"411\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Picture-126.jpg 1440w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Picture-126-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Picture-126-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Picture-126-1024x1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 411px) 100vw, 411px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As many of you know I also am a firm believer in manifestation, and I feel very strongly that if I put something out into the universe, somehow someway it will work out.\u00a0 This of course does not mean I can just sit on my butt and cross my fingers for a sub 3:35 marathon time this October,\u00a0 I need to put in the work and I have been. \u00a0<strong> But so much of the things we want come from having the mental ability to conceive and believe in them.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A good friend once told me&#8230;<strong>&#8220;every thing you have ever wanted, is on the other side of fear&#8221;<\/strong>.\u00a0 So true.\u00a0 Taking risks is scary.\u00a0 Going after your dreams is scary.\u00a0 What if you fall on your face?\u00a0 What if you are\u00a0 not good enough?\u00a0 All are real possibilities, but are they strong enough to keep you from at least trying?\u00a0 I hope not.<\/p>\n<p>There will be haters, there will be nay-sayers, that is just life.\u00a0 But the biggest enemy we all face is our mind.\u00a0 The people who love and support you will pick you up when you fall, they will tell you to keep going.\u00a0 You are also guaranteed to inspire others along the way.\u00a0 If you have never truly pushed yourself past fear and past your comfort zone, you have never realized your full potential.\u00a0 This of course is not just about running, it is about life.\u00a0 It is about going after what you want.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Picture-095.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-683 aligncenter\" alt=\"Picture 095\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Picture-095.jpg\" width=\"327\" height=\"327\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Picture-095.jpg 1936w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Picture-095-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Picture-095-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Picture-095-1024x1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 327px) 100vw, 327px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I would be lying if I told you I am not terrified.\u00a0 I would also be lying if I told you I would not be upset if I don&#8217;t get the time I need at Chicago.\u00a0 But I would be more upset and disappointed in myself if I never even gave myself the chance.\u00a0<strong> It is not a matter if I can do it or not, it is a matter of whether or not I believe I can do it.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A couple weeks ago somebody asked me why I was broadcasting to everybody that I was trying to qualify for Boston this year.\u00a0 What if it doesn&#8217;t work out?\u00a0 What if I fail?
