{"id":1523,"date":"2014-09-04T21:46:51","date_gmt":"2014-09-04T21:46:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/?p=1523"},"modified":"2014-09-04T21:59:24","modified_gmt":"2014-09-04T21:59:24","slug":"9-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/9-days\/","title":{"rendered":"9 days."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I cannot believe race day is almost here, eeek!\u00a0 I am super excited, nervous, terrified, confident and calm about it&#8230; all at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>I finished my last dreaded track workout this week.\u00a0 As much as I hate doing them, I am kind of surprised that I only skipped one all season.\u00a0 During week 1 the workout starts at 4x800s at 630-640 minute mile pace with\u00a0 a 400 rest in between each one at race pace.\u00a0 As you get closer to race day, the 800s get up to TEN repeats.\u00a0 THAT IS OVER 7 MILES ON THE TRACK.\u00a0 I mean seriously, talk about torture.\u00a0 But in the two years I have been doing these, I have noticed the positive results.\u00a0 So even though I hate them with a fiery passion,\u00a0 I do them.\u00a0 When I was on my last 800, I visualized that I was on the last stretch of my marathon.\u00a0 I envisioned coming into the shoot, people cheering around me, seeing familiar faces&#8230;and then I visualized how it would feel to see my goal time on the clock.\u00a0\u00a0 My adrenaline automatically spiked, I had goosebumps and I ran my last 800 20 seconds under pace.\u00a0 I may have even teared up a little.\u00a0 Get it together, Jill.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/run.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1524 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/run.jpg\" alt=\"run\" width=\"393\" height=\"393\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/run.jpg 576w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/run-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/run-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 393px) 100vw, 393px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Do I want to qualify next Saturday?\u00a0 Of course.\u00a0 Have I put lots of hard work into getting faster? You bet.\u00a0 BUT, I have decided that I am not running this race to qualify any more.\u00a0 I am running it for fun.\u00a0 I am running it in hopes of getting a PR.\u00a0 I am just going to go out and run it, period.\u00a0 No expectations, no pressure, that is when I always do my best.\u00a0 Almost every time I have had a PR of any kind, lifting, running etc.\u00a0 It has not been on purpose. \u00a0 For example, when doing any kind of heavy lifting or finding my 1 rep max, I have a weird habit of not counting the weight.\u00a0 When I don&#8217;t know the weight I am lifting,\u00a0 it is easier for me to not think about how heavy it is.\u00a0 I just try to focus on the movement.\u00a0 As soon as I know what the weight is&#8230;I doubt myself and then I panic.\u00a0 Weak sauce.<\/p>\n<p>My awesome lifting partner Lorraine, is such a good sport with me.\u00a0 She always makes sure to never count out loud when we are going up in weight and she also tends to yell at people when they say the number out loud around me, it is kind of hilarious and pathetic all at the same time.\u00a0 LZ -you are the bomb.<\/p>\n<p>If I get my time next week, awesome. \u00a0 If I don&#8217;t, oh well. \u00a0 It&#8217;s just another long run, what&#8217;s the big deal? Listen to this video Jill!
