{"id":1372,"date":"2014-04-17T14:31:13","date_gmt":"2014-04-17T14:31:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/?p=1372"},"modified":"2015-01-07T18:16:40","modified_gmt":"2015-01-07T18:16:40","slug":"numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/numbers\/","title":{"rendered":"Numbers."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is has officially happened.\u00a0 The Crossfit\/lifting world warned me about this and I have been fighting it for a year now.\u00a0 None of my jeans fit.\u00a0 Even when I do the &#8220;Locigno butt dance&#8221; to get them on&#8230; I feel like I might pass out from lack of oxygen.\u00a0 No, it is not because I have been eating cake every day (man, that would be awesome).\u00a0 It is because my strength is finally starting to build.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s hope goodwill has some good jean options.<\/p>\n<p>It reminds me yet again of all the focus we put on numbers.\u00a0 The number on the scale.\u00a0 The number on that dress, those pair of jeans.\u00a0 Or even worse, how our &#8220;numbers&#8221; compare to everyone else.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/scale.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1374 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/scale.jpg\" alt=\"scale\" width=\"400\" height=\"246\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/scale.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/scale-300x184.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Numbers are a bunch of crap if you ask me.\u00a0\u00a0 The only numbers you should truly be worried about are your cholesterol, resting heart rate, blood pressure etc.\u00a0 Everything else?\u00a0 Not so important.\u00a0 I was just having this conversation with my CF coach this week about that dreaded BMI test that you do at the doctors office and we were laughing about it. \u00a0 Because according to this scale, we are both overweight or close to it.\u00a0 No really, if I punch in my height and weight and hit calculate I get an &#8220;ALERT YOU ARE OVERWEIGHT!&#8221;. \u00a0 So I have a little dinosaur age calculator telling me I am a fatty&#8230; then at the same time I get people saying things like &#8220;you are so small, lucky you!&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0 I mean really, can you blame somebody for being a headcase about this kind of stuff?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Here is my challenge to you, tell those numbers to suck it.\u00a0 In the past two years since getting more into Crossfit, I have put on a solid TEN POUNDS.\u00a0 I used to range between 115-20 and now I am hovering 130. \u00a0 I would be lying to you if I said that doesn&#8217;t bug me sometimes, simply because of how society has programmed us females.\u00a0 The sad part is that I truly am cool with my body, but I still have my moments like every other human.\u00a0 My body is something I should be proud of&#8230; why?\u00a0 Because it has run 4 marathons, 9 half marathons, 2 half Ironmans and countless other races.\u00a0<strong> This body will be a Boston qualifier someday.<\/strong> \u00a0 Since putting on that gradual ten pounds, I have PR after PR on all my Olympic lifts and my runs just keep getting faster.\u00a0 You think I would want to trade that for a salad only diet and the ability to look decent in skinny jeans?? HELL NO!\u00a0 If gaining more weight means gaining more strength and speed, bring it on.\u00a0 I am not training for the Victoria Secret Fashion Show, I am training for life.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/2013-Cont.-252.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1376 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/2013-Cont.-252.jpg\" alt=\"2013 Cont. 252\" width=\"433\" height=\"433\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/2013-Cont.-252.jpg 1668w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/2013-Cont.-252-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/2013-Cont.-252-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/2013-Cont.-252-1024x1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 433px) 100vw, 433px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Stop thinking that if you just had that number on the scale, you would be happier.\u00a0 Or if you could look like that person, your life would be so much better.\u00a0 Those same people just might be looking at you and wishing they had what you have (yes, YOU).\u00a0 What can your body do RIGHT NOW that you should be proud of?\u00a0 Did your body give birth to some awesome human beings?\u00a0 Can you squat 200 lbs?\u00a0 Can your body walk up and down stairs with out pain?\u00a0 Did those legs run their first 5k?
