{"id":1323,"date":"2014-04-01T14:00:43","date_gmt":"2014-04-01T14:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/?p=1323"},"modified":"2014-04-01T15:50:45","modified_gmt":"2014-04-01T15:50:45","slug":"2014-crossfit-open-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/2014-crossfit-open-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"2014 Crossfit Open Recap."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Holy COW you guys, life is CRAZY right now.\u00a0 But guess what??!\u00a0 No more grad classes for me until the fall, WOOO!!\u00a0 I have two courses left to take and it just so happens neither of them are offered this semester.\u00a0 I think that was God&#8217;s way of lightening up my load for the crazy months ahead.\u00a0 Thanks, big guy.\u00a0 Despite being a tad bit stressed lately, it has also been an awesome 5 weeks due to the Crossfit Open.\u00a0 <em>Warning crossfit hater friends, even though I still love you, you may want to stop reading now<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Normally all of our workouts are programmed by our coach (who is insane\/awesome) but this time of year we get to do the same workout as other boxes all over the world and see where we match up.\u00a0 It is pretty cool and also INCREDIBLY humbling.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/2013-Cont.-231.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1325 aligncenter\" alt=\"2013 Cont. 231\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/2013-Cont.-231.jpg\" width=\"309\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/2013-Cont.-231.jpg 384w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/2013-Cont.-231-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/2013-Cont.-231-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 309px) 100vw, 309px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last year in the Open, I was sick to my stomach almost every week before the workout was posted.\u00a0 Almost every time, it was a movement or a weight that I had not been able to master yet.\u00a0 So, I was excited that this year I could do almost everything.\u00a0 It was the year of cardio, which you would think means I kicked a$$ on everything&#8230; but that is certainly not the truth.\u00a0 The weights may have been lighter this year, but it was a good reminder that even though I am indeed getting stronger, my form and technique still needs a lot of work.<\/p>\n<p>It is also this time of year that I feel the most &#8220;fun&#8221;.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because it means Friday nights consist of doing a ridiculously hard workout followed by hanging around in your sweaty workout clothes and enjoying a few celebratory beers in honor of that ridiculously hard workout.\u00a0 If only all bars were like that, maybe I would be a normal 27 year old who liked going out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/CFO21.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1328 aligncenter\" alt=\"CFO2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/CFO21.jpg\" width=\"235\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/CFO21.jpg 530w, http:\/\/www.blessedinthemess.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/CFO21-198x300.jpg 198w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 235px) 100vw, 235px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It has been 2 years since I started this Crossfit Journey and I honestly thought that eventually it would get old.\u00a0 I thought I would get bored after a while and need another change.\u00a0 Man was I wrong, every day is a new challenge.\u00a0 Every day is a new milestone.\u00a0 What others see as a &#8220;fad&#8221;
